If you give me a word to describe my 3rd semester of my university program (1st sem of second year), it is not enough. Oh yeah, I’m back to Cheras for a month semester break before 4th sem is started.
Too many words can describe my sem 3 – hectic, upset, lonely but excited, challenging and happy. I’d been through a lot of hardship and learnt a lot in this sem, much more than last sem.
Well, where shall I start? It’s been a long time since I typed the last post.
Recalling back to the beginning of sem 3, when I went back to the house which I rent with a few friends in Sabah, the unwilling feeling was so strong, even stronger than first time I came to Sabah because I couldn’t find the belonging over there. I feel that we are even less close than last time we’d been. Perhaps that is because what others’ said: we have different channels. I tell you, it’s normal to have this coz my friends also experienced this. Luckily, I still have many friends who stand by my side. I’m really glad to have them and I promise myself to love them more <3 nbsp="">3>
Then, I moved on my life by doing what I wanted to do. So next, I would tell you how interesting and challenging was my sem 3. I was so active in English Debating Club in my uni. For the first meeting, I was considering whether I shall go, I wanted to because I still want to learn more things especially to improve my verbal English. Then, I decided to go there after I got some debaters went along with me. I'm not sure whether it was first or second meeting, my president encouraged us to take part in an international debating competition which held in Sarawak. After I considered and discussed with a girl for a few times, I decided to take part in it. One of the reasons is I wanted to travel in Sarawak! Hehehee…This was the first time we competed outside of our uni. And yes, it made us become more committed to our club. Previously, we were not as active as this sem. We went every training and meeting from 6pm until late night, mostly after 9pm and we had to walk back to our house coz last bus comes at 9pm.
I’m grateful that there are seniors that willing to teach us everything without only keeping the knowledge to themselves. They would try to find some time to train us if we requested for it for the competition even though they were busy with their assignments, tests and etc. They are experienced coz they have been through in international competition but they’re still a humble person and keep on learning.
From the competition in Sarawak, I met a lot of people. I knew some people from Malaysia, Singapore, India, Vietnam and even Kyrgyzstan! Some of them are undergraduates and some of them already start working but still passionate on debating! I met some high school students who are only 13-15 years old though. It was kinda unfair to them but I admire their courage to take part in this tournament. I went as an adjudicator, not a chair though. So, my roles includes persuading the chair to decide which side win and give feedback to debaters. Hmm, not everyone ask for feedback from me coz I’m not the chair and I have to admit that I have not much feedback to give them. Sigh…I still have to improve my debating skills and general knowledge! One way to improve me is to read bbc everyday~ However, I learnt a lot as being an adj. After sat down for an hour, listened to their points and copied down everything they’ve said, I had to decide their ranking! Each side seemed so right for me >.< Not only that, I had to think why am I giving credit to them, which points stand and how to become better (feedback). I’m not that confident enough Arghh… I also learnt a lot from chair and debaters. I could see many different perspectives from different sides and how they debate.
I’m happy that I had a conversation with 2 awesome debaters (not participants).
P/s actually that time was an awful moment coz I can’t find the room and all my partners were not with me then only ended up with chatting with them.
Throughout the conversation, I got to know the story of Waze app which help me truly realize that an app can be created to solve a daily life problem and it make me become more passionate on the profession as a software engineer. Unexpectedly, the story was later written for my application of exchange program. Besides, I was told by an awesome girl that everybody is learning coding. I’m really admire her coz she is also studying computer science and she is so clear about what she wants to do in the future and active in many activities.
The tournament was held from 2nd to 4th November. 6 of us, Richard, Wi, Yven, Mavis, Yanni and I went there on 1st of November morning. After we checked-in Telang Usan Hotel, they gave some briefing to all participants. We were free at night, all my team mates went out with their friends who studying in UNIMAS for supper. I couldn’t join them coz I still have my programming assignment T^T but I messed it up because I accidentally fell asleep in the hotel! Most probably because I was too tired and the room was so comfortable with air-cond! Luckily by that time I woke up, there were a few minutes left for me to email the assignment to my lecturer. All my team mates already back but my door was locked, so they went another room for last training! Sooo shameful~~ >.< I still had fried oyster (蚝煎) as my supper anyway hahaha but I didn’t eat as much as them L steal their pictures XP:

Then, we went to Damai beach with other debaters! Basically, there are nothing much, just has a small and noisy bar >.< My friend told me that there is a cultural village but we didn’t get to see that.

4 of us looked for supper at Padungan..
At night, we had room party >.< We all had to join it after everyone knew the next day was Yven’s birthday. That was first time I had local wine- Tuak. Not very bad. I was just not used to it so Yven and I escaped from there after I finished a small cup of Tuak.
On 4th day, last meal with the debaters.
Sorry, laksa again!
Finally, I got to try tomato-sauce mee!! But they said this was not as good as the first one they tried on first night! ＞．＜
After that, we walked ourselves.

We took boat to tour the river.
met another 2 debaters
We also crossed the river to buy some kek lapis.
This was our last day in Sarawak and our flight time is at 11pm. We were kinda disappointed that the tournament organizer didn’t arrange any transport to send us to airport. Fortunately, Jiayang rent his friend’s car to fetch us! And since we had 6 people, he made two trips! We were so grateful and finally, I understand what is 患难见真情！which means you will see who is your true friend when you’re in trouble!

OMG THIS IS GONNA BE TOO LONG! Okay, I will write another post for the stories below:
Apk course- compulsory for us to sell things on expo days.
ureka challenge- a good try for me and yannie.
UGRAD exchange program- good experience and I was selected to interview.
Labuan debating workshop- gets closer with Labuan guys.
Birthdays- a lot of December babies including me.
Christmas- an event at gaya street in KK.
And my beloved granny who just passed away…
